loyee's travel and living expenses, wages, and workers' compensation insurance while attending training, if applicable.

The initial brand training program will cover material aspects of operating a Brand Hotel including (a) brand culture, (b) the loyalty program and certain related software, and (c) brand programs, marketing, and sales.

You are required to ensure that your Hotel Representatives are adequately trained. To that effect, upon completion of training, you must provide us with verification of successful completion of training. All training must be completed to our satisfaction.

You (or your Principal) (as defined in Section 15.(c)(v)) may request additional training at the end of the initial brand training program, to be provided at our then-current fees if your Hotel Representative does not feel sufficiently trained in the operation of a Brand Hotel. We will determine the duration of this additional training. However, if your Hotel Representative completes our initial brand training program to our satisfaction and you have not expressly informed us in writing at the end of that program that your Hotel Representative does not feel sufficiently trained in the operation of a Brand Hotel, then your Hotel Representative will be deemed to have been trained sufficiently to operate a Brand Hotel. Attendance will not be required for more than five (5) days during any calendar year. You agree to pay all costs to attend, including the attendance fees we then charge. You will also have access to our IT Help Desk for support with one email account we provide and our owner's information portal.

What This Means (2025 FDD)

Based on the 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Americas Best Value Inn franchise agreement stipulates that franchisees must ensure their Hotel Representatives are adequately trained. Upon completion of the training, franchisees must provide verification of successful completion, and all training must be completed to the franchisor's satisfaction. The FDD also mentions that if the Hotel Representative does not feel sufficiently trained after the initial program, additional training may be requested at the franchisee's expense based on the then-current fees. If the Hotel Representative completes the initial training program to the franchisor's satisfaction and the franchisee does not inform the franchisor in writing that the Hotel Representative does not feel sufficiently trained, the Hotel Representative will be deemed sufficiently trained to operate a Brand Hotel.

Americas Best Value Inn requires the franchisee (or their Principal) to attend an initial brand training program. The initial brand training fee is $1,500 as of the effective date. This training covers material aspects of operating a Brand Hotel, including brand culture, the loyalty program and certain related software, and brand programs, marketing, and sales. The franchisee is also responsible for the travel and living expenses, wages, and workers' compensation insurance for their employees while attending training, if applicable. Attendance will not be required for more than five days during any calendar year, and the franchisee agrees to pay all costs to attend, including the attendance fees then charged.

While the FDD outlines training requirements for Hotel Representatives, it does not specify the number of employees a franchisee must hire or the roles they must fill to operate an Americas Best Value Inn. For a prospective franchisee, this means that staffing decisions are largely left to their discretion, based on the needs of their specific hotel and local market conditions. However, it is crucial to ensure that all staff, especially those in representative roles, receive adequate training as mandated by the franchisor. A prospective franchisee should ask the franchisor for more details regarding recommended staffing levels and roles to ensure smooth and compliant operations.
