What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 Americas Best Value Inn Franchise Disclosure Document, "Plans" refer to the layouts, specifications, and drawings for the hotel itself. "Designs" encompass the layouts, specifications, and drawings for the proposed furnishings, fixtures, equipment, and décor of the hotel. These Plans and Designs are specifically related to the Renovation Work required for converting an existing hotel into an Americas Best Value Inn franchise.
As a prospective franchisee, you must submit these Plans and Designs to Americas Best Value Inn for their approval. The franchisor may provide representative prototype guest room and public area plans and schematic building plans to guide you in preparing your own Plans and Designs. However, the FDD emphasizes that Americas Best Value Inn's approval of these submissions does not guarantee their effectiveness or assume responsibility for the resulting Renovation Work.
This means that while Americas Best Value Inn reviews the Plans and Designs to ensure compliance with their brand standards, the franchisee bears the ultimate responsibility for the success and compliance of the renovation. The franchisee is also responsible for ensuring that the hotel and all Construction Work adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, permits, and requirements. Americas Best Value Inn retains the right to participate in progress meetings and inspect the hotel during construction and renovation, but they are not obligated to do so.
