Answer from 2025 FDD Document

The market for your services will depend on your Hotel's location, size and its type of operation (that is, resort, conference center, hotel for frequent business travelers, etc.). Our franchisees seek customers and business referrals from the local community and typically solicit business from conventions, and tour and travel groups, on a regional and national level. Business and leisure travelers, meeting planners and attendees, and organizers of and attendees of social functions constitute a significant portion of ABVI events. In general, you will compete with national hotel and motel chains and independently-operated local hotels and restaurants offering similar types of hotel rooms and food and beverage services to the same clientele. In addition to competing with hotels that offer services comparable to the Brand, you also may compete with lodging designed to serve particular segments of the market and to fill particular lodging demands (such as Vrbo® and Airbnb® ).

What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to the 2025 Americas Best Value Inn FDD, Americas Best Value Inn hotels compete with other hotels and motels, as well as lodging options like Vrbo and Airbnb. The FDD states that franchisees seek customers from the local community and solicit business from conventions, tour groups, and travel groups on regional and national levels. Business and leisure travelers, meeting planners, and attendees of social functions are a significant portion of Americas Best Value Inn's business.

This means that prospective Americas Best Value Inn franchisees should be aware of the competitive landscape, which includes not only traditional hotels but also alternative lodging options that have gained popularity in recent years. Understanding the local market and the specific needs of different traveler segments is crucial for success.

To effectively compete, franchisees may need to differentiate their offerings, potentially by emphasizing the brand's standards, amenities such as complimentary breakfast and high-speed internet, or the "A Voice and A Vote®" aspect of the franchise, which allows franchisees some input into brand matters. They may also need to actively manage their online presence and reputation to attract customers who might otherwise choose Vrbo or Airbnb.
