Mandatory Initial Training
Before you commence your Franchise operations, we will provide a mandatory initial training program for you (or your individual owners if you are an entity) and your General Manager, Kitchen Manager, Bar Manager, and Commissary Manager. The initial training program is held at our headquarters and affiliateowned restaurant (currently in Portland, Oregon) and lasts approximately six weeks. (Franchise Agreement, Section 3.1). If you are purchasing an operational franchise from an existing franchisee, then the duration of the mandatory initial training program will be approximately two weeks. The initial training program is included in the Initial Franchise Fee only for your first franchise. For additional franchises, we will provide additional training if we deem it necessary or upon your request (subject to our availability) at our then-current training fees.
Accommodations, travel, room, board, and wage expenses for any of your personnel during this period are borne by you. If the Franchise is managed by any persons other than you, you must notify us of the identity of the manager(s). However, we shall not have the right to hire, fire, direct, supervise or discipline your manager(s). The training program must be completed by all franchisees and their designated manager(s) unless, at our reasonable discretion, based upon a franchisee's or a designated manager's experience, it is deemed unnecessary.

What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Afuri Ramen Dumpling's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the initial training program is conducted at the company's headquarters and an affiliate-owned restaurant, both currently located in Portland, Oregon. This mandatory training is provided for the franchisee (or individual owners if the franchisee is an entity), along with the General Manager, Kitchen Manager, Bar Manager, and Commissary Manager. The standard training lasts approximately six weeks, but if a franchisee is purchasing an operational franchise from an existing franchisee, the training duration is reduced to about two weeks.
This initial training is included in the initial franchise fee, but only for the first franchise purchased. For any subsequent franchises, Afuri Ramen Dumpling may provide additional training if deemed necessary or upon request, subject to availability and at the company's then-current training fees. Franchisees are responsible for covering all accommodations, travel, room, board, and wage expenses for their personnel during the training period.
Prospective franchisees should note that completing the initial mandatory training program to Afuri Ramen Dumpling's satisfaction is a condition of the Franchise Agreement. Failure to do so may result in the termination of the agreement, with a refund of 50% of the initial franchise fee. Franchisees are encouraged to participate in training as soon as possible after signing the Franchise Agreement to avoid incurring costs before completing this mandatory step. This setup is fairly standard in the franchise industry, where franchisors emphasize thorough training to ensure consistent brand standards and operational efficiency across all locations.
