What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Afuri Ramen Dumpling's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, if you propose any modifications to the equipment packages provided by the franchisor, you must obtain written approval from Afuri Ramen Dumpling. This approval is at the sole discretion of Afuri Ramen Dumpling, and is intended to maintain a consistent and uniform image across all Afuri Ramen Dumpling franchise locations.

This requirement extends to all standards and specifications established by Afuri Ramen Dumpling for design, layout, equipment, and furnishings. Any modifications or variations from these standards also require prior written consent from Afuri Ramen Dumpling. Furthermore, Afuri Ramen Dumpling reserves the right to impose requirements to modify the layout, furnishings, and equipment within a timeframe they deem reasonable, and all equipment must conform to their specifications. Afuri Ramen Dumpling also retains the right to require reasonable changes or additions to the equipment.

For a prospective Afuri Ramen Dumpling franchisee, this means that you have limited flexibility in customizing the equipment and layout of your franchise. Any deviation from the standard equipment package or design requires approval, which may or may not be granted. This ensures brand consistency but could also limit your ability to adapt the franchise to specific local needs or preferences without the franchisor's consent. It is important to discuss any potential modifications with Afuri Ramen Dumpling early in the process to understand their willingness to accommodate your ideas.

This level of control over equipment and design is common in franchising, as it helps maintain brand standards and customer expectations. However, it's crucial for franchisees to understand these restrictions and factor them into their business planning. Franchisees should inquire about the process for requesting modifications, the criteria used for evaluating such requests, and examples of modifications that have been previously approved or denied.
