What This Means (2024 FDD)
According to Afuri Ramen Dumpling's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the company's confidential manufacturing requirements, equipment, designs, and systems are disclosed to potential suppliers only after Afuri Ramen Dumpling receives reasonable evidence that the proposed supplier meets specific criteria. These criteria include trustworthiness, a good reputation, the capacity to consistently adhere to Afuri Ramen Dumpling's standards, requirements and testing procedures, a willingness to maintain the confidentiality of the designs and systems, and the ability to adequately supply the franchisee's reasonable needs.
Prior to releasing any confidential information, Afuri Ramen Dumpling may require the proposed supplier to sign a Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement. This ensures that the supplier is legally bound to protect the sensitive information they receive. Afuri Ramen Dumpling also states that they will not unreasonably withhold approval of a supplier proposed by the franchisee. The company will notify the franchisee in writing of the approval or disapproval of any proposed supplier within 30 days of receiving the franchisee's written notice requesting approval.
These measures are in place to protect Afuri Ramen Dumpling's proprietary information and maintain the quality and consistency of its products. For a prospective franchisee, this means that while they can propose alternate suppliers, those suppliers must meet stringent requirements and be approved by Afuri Ramen Dumpling. This also highlights the importance of economies of scale, as Afuri Ramen Dumpling notes that one of the potential benefits for franchisees is the mass purchasing power made available through the company's approved suppliers.
