What This Means (2024 FDD)
Based on the 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, Afuri Ramen Dumpling franchisees must complete the initial mandatory training program to the franchisor's satisfaction. Failure to do so may result in the termination of the Franchise Agreement, with a refund of 50% of the Initial Franchise Fee. The FDD does not explicitly state that franchisees can conduct the manager training program themselves.
The initial training program must be completed within 45 days of the scheduled opening date. Franchisees are encouraged to participate in the training session as soon as possible after executing the Franchise Agreement and before incurring any costs or expenses related to opening the Franchise. The franchisor will not be liable for the franchisee's costs or expenses if the franchisee or their manager fails to complete the mandatory training to the franchisor's satisfaction.
The training program is conducted by trainers such as Taichi Ishizuki, Zachary Ragghianti, and Jennifer Underwood. The Operations Manual is used for instructional material. The training schedule is held on an "as needed" basis depending on the number of franchisees requesting training and the franchisor's training personnel's availability.
While the FDD does not directly address whether a franchisee can conduct the training themselves, it emphasizes the importance of completing the franchisor's mandatory training program. A prospective franchisee should clarify with the franchisor whether there are any circumstances under which they could be approved to conduct the manager training program internally, and what qualifications or certifications would be required.
