Answer from 2024 FDD Document

You will be given a specific territory for your Franchise (the "Franchise Territory" or "Territory"). A typical franchise territory will be a mileage radius around the center of the Franchise Premises. The standard radius is 5 miles, but the radius may be as low as 1/4 of a mile in downtown urban areas. We reserve the right to designate a different mileage radius based on factors we deem reasonable. For example, your Franchise Territory may vary in size and dimensions based on population, growth trends, affluence of nearby population, topography, geography, density and demographics. The Franchise Territory will be identified in Section 1.1 of the Franchise Agreement. The exact determination of the Franchise Territory will depend upon our market analysis, market penetration plans and franchise placement strategies. Among the factors we may consider to determine the feasibility of possible franchise territory locations are population demographics and other businesses in the area pursuant to census and chamber of commerce information.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Afuri Ramen Dumpling's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, the specific territory granted to a franchisee will be detailed in Section 1.1 of the Franchise Agreement. This Franchise Territory, as it is referred to in the document, is typically defined as a mileage radius around the physical location of the franchise, known as the Franchise Premises. While a standard radius is around 5 miles, this can be reduced to as little as 1/4 of a mile in densely populated urban areas.

The franchisor, Afuri Ramen Dumpling, retains the right to modify the mileage radius based on factors they deem reasonable. These factors can include population size, growth trends, the affluence of the local population, and geographical considerations such as topography, density, and demographics. This means that the exact size and shape of a franchisee's territory can vary significantly depending on the specific location and market conditions.

Prospective Afuri Ramen Dumpling franchisees should pay close attention to Section 1.1 of the Franchise Agreement to fully understand the boundaries of their territory and any potential limitations or considerations that may apply. Understanding the factors that influence the territory's size and shape is crucial for assessing the potential market and competition within the designated area. Franchisees should also inquire about the market analysis and franchise placement strategies used to determine the territory to ensure they are comfortable with the rationale behind its boundaries.
