Answer from 2024 FDD Document

    1. Regional Advertising Cooperative. Subject to our prior written approval, if at any meeting of the franchisees in an advertising region, 75% of the franchisees vote to contribute to a regional advertising program, all franchisees within that region will be obligated to make a contribution to a regional advertising fund in the amount established by the vote. Our company-owned outlets will not be required to participate in or contribute to regional advertising cooperatives. No advertising region may require any franchisee in that region to make a contribution to a Regional Advertising Fund in excess of 2% of that franchisee's Revenue.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Afuri Ramen Dumpling's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, company-owned outlets have different requirements than franchised locations regarding regional advertising. Specifically, Afuri Ramen Dumpling's company-owned outlets are not required to participate in or contribute to regional advertising cooperatives. This means that while franchisees may be obligated to contribute to a regional advertising fund if a certain percentage of franchisees in their region vote to do so, company-owned locations are exempt from this requirement.

For franchisees, if 75% of franchisees in a specific advertising region vote to contribute to a regional advertising program, then all franchisees within that region must participate. The contribution amount is determined by the vote, but it cannot exceed 2% of the franchisee's revenue. This cooperative advertising approach aims to pool resources for more effective regional marketing efforts, but it also means that franchisees must be prepared to allocate a portion of their revenue to this fund if the majority votes in favor.

This policy creates a distinction in advertising obligations between company-owned and franchised Afuri Ramen Dumpling locations. Franchisees need to be aware of the potential requirement to contribute to a regional advertising fund, which could impact their overall marketing budget and strategies. Understanding the dynamics of franchisee voting and the potential financial implications is crucial for prospective franchisees.
