Answer from 2024 FDD Document

Subject to your obligation to purchase goods and services from certain exclusively designated suppliers, with advance written notice you may request our approval to obtain products, equipment, supplies or materials from sources that we have not previously approved. We may require you to give us sufficient information, photographs, drawings, samples, and other data to allow us to determine whether the items from these other sources meet our specifications and standards, as established from time to time. These specifications and standards will relate to quality, taste, durability, value, cleanliness, texture, composition, strength, finish and appearance, and the suppliers' capacity and facility to supply your needs in the quantities, at the times, and with the reliability necessary for efficient operation. We may require that samples from any supplier be delivered to a designated independent testing laboratory for testing before approval and use. You will reimburse us for the actual cost of the tests.

What This Means (2024 FDD)

According to Afuri Ramen Dumpling's 2024 Franchise Disclosure Document, if a franchisee wants to use a new supplier that hasn't been previously approved, the franchisee will have to pay for the costs of testing samples from that supplier. Specifically, Afuri Ramen Dumpling may require that samples from the potential supplier be sent to an independent testing laboratory for analysis before approval.

This means that if a franchisee finds a new supplier they'd like to use for products, equipment, supplies, or materials, they need to first get approval from Afuri Ramen Dumpling. As part of this approval process, Afuri Ramen Dumpling can request sufficient information about the supplier, including samples. If Afuri Ramen Dumpling requires these samples to be tested, the franchisee is responsible for reimbursing Afuri Ramen Dumpling for the actual costs of those tests.

This policy ensures that all suppliers meet Afuri Ramen Dumpling's standards for quality, taste, and other important factors. While it gives franchisees some flexibility in sourcing, it also places the financial burden of ensuring compliance on the franchisee. This is a fairly standard practice in franchising, as franchisors need to maintain consistency across all locations to protect the brand's reputation. Franchisees should factor in these potential testing costs when considering using a non-approved supplier.
