What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to the 2025 7 Brew Franchise Disclosure Document, the Maryland Rider modifies the standard franchise agreement for franchisees in Maryland. Specifically, Paragraphs (7) through (14) of Section 2 of the Franchise Agreement are deleted in their entirety. This deletion is acknowledged within the rider itself, indicating a specific modification to the standard agreement for Maryland franchisees.
Additionally, the Maryland Rider includes supplementary language at the end of Section 2 of the Franchise Agreement. This new language stipulates that any representations requiring the franchisee to agree to a release, estoppel, or waiver of liability will not act as a release, estoppel, or waiver of any liability incurred under the Maryland Franchise Registration and Disclosure Law. This addition ensures that franchisees' rights under Maryland franchise law are protected, preventing unintentional waivers of liability.
This type of state-specific rider is common in franchising to ensure compliance with varying state laws. Prospective 7 Brew franchisees in Maryland should carefully review the rider in conjunction with the standard franchise agreement to understand their rights and obligations under Maryland law. This modification highlights the importance of consulting with a franchise attorney to navigate the specific legal landscape of franchising in Maryland.
