What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to 7 Brew's 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the Manufacturer and its affiliates are responsible for maintaining and renewing any patents or registrations related to the Specifications. Specifically, any resulting patents or registrations will be maintained, renewed, or extended at the option and expense of the Manufacturer and its affiliates. This means that the franchisee does not have to worry about the costs or administrative burden of protecting the intellectual property related to the 7 Brew system. This is a common arrangement in franchising, as the franchisor typically owns and protects the brand's intellectual property. The franchisee's use of the Specifications inures to the benefit of the Manufacturer and its affiliates. The franchisee is prohibited from doing anything inconsistent with the Manufacturer and its affiliates' ownership of, or rights in, the Specifications. This ensures that the brand's intellectual property remains under the control of the franchisor, which helps to maintain consistency and quality across all franchise locations.
