What This Means (2025 FDD)
According to 1 800 Packouts' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, 1 800 Packouts and its affiliates have the right to receive payments from suppliers due to the suppliers' dealings with franchisees. These payments can stem from both current and potential transactions between the suppliers and 1 800 Packouts franchisees.
1 800 Packouts retains the right to utilize these funds without any restrictions, allowing them to allocate the money for any purpose they deem appropriate. This arrangement means that 1 800 Packouts has complete discretion over how these supplier payments are used, and franchisees have no control over or claim to these funds.
This practice is common in franchising, where franchisors negotiate deals with suppliers and receive rebates or other payments. While this can benefit the entire franchise system through improved supplier relationships or lower costs, it's important for prospective franchisees to understand that they may not directly benefit from these arrangements. Franchisees should inquire about how these payments are used and whether they contribute to the overall value and support provided by the 1 800 Packouts franchise system.
Additionally, the 1 800 Packouts FDD states that if franchisees purchase items directly from 1 800 Packouts or its affiliates, 1 800 Packouts and its affiliates may make a reasonable profit on those items.
