What This Means (2025 FDD)

According to 1 800 Packouts' 2025 Franchise Disclosure Document, the brand defines 'Operating Assets' as furniture, fixtures, signs, and equipment that franchisees purchase or lease for use in their franchised businesses. 1 800 Packouts maintains the right to stipulate that these Operating Assets meet certain specifications, including brand, kind, or model.

For a prospective franchisee, this means 1 800 Packouts has the authority to mandate where you source these assets. You may be required to purchase or lease them directly from 1 800 Packouts, its affiliates, or from approved suppliers. In cases where you propose using a non-approved brand, type, or model of Operating Assets, you must first seek approval from 1 800 Packouts. This process involves submitting detailed specifications, photographs, drawings, or samples for evaluation.

1 800 Packouts will assess whether the proposed assets comply with their standards and specifications, typically communicating their decision within 30 days. While 1 800 Packouts does not disclose the specific criteria for approving suppliers to franchisees, they generally evaluate the quality and appearance of the proposed products, as well as the supplier's reputation, quality controls, and distribution capabilities. 1 800 Packouts retains the discretion to approve or disapprove a supplier or item. This system ensures uniformity and quality control across all 1 800 Packouts franchises, but it also limits the franchisee's autonomy in choosing their equipment and supplies.
